I was recently asked the question:” But are we told to do Hanukkah?”
My answer: A Scriptural, yes, is revealed when we combine two verses 1 John 2:6 and John 10:22-23. 1 John 2:6 says, "the one who says that he remains in Him ought, himself also, WALK JUST AS HE WALKED." Therefore, it's very significant that the Bible says, "Jesus WALKED in the temple" in John 10:23 during the Feast of Dedication (Hanukkah) in the place all believers met - Solomon's Colonnade. Additionally, Yeshua told me to do what He did during an epiphanous appearance on Dec. 21, 1998. He came to me with tears in His eyes, saying, "The mixture of Christmas grieves My heart.” He paused to let that bombshell sink in because my Christmas Tree was in the next room. As I reeled from His visitation and the revealing of His heart about Christmas, Yeshua added: “Come out of Babylon and lay down Christmas, for I will have a pure and spotless Bride.” Once I had chosen to lay down Christmas and I had dismantled my spider-infested tree, I was looking at all our presents in the bare corner of our family room, sipping my tea. I felt great joy, but at the same time I felt that a rug had been pulled out from beneath me. I asked Yeshua: “What do we (my family) do now (what do we celebrate)? Messiah Yeshua told me, “Do what I did.” I asked Him, “What did you do?” because I really didn’t know at the time. Yeshua showed me Hanukkah in John 10:22-23. So, my answer is always: Do what Jesus did.
