COMING OUT OF THE WORLD OF 10 PLAGUES

Happy Passover y’all!

This Passover Season the Holy One has been speaking about being taken out of the world both inwardly and outwardly. It’s about you and I being more set apart than ever before. In this regard, the Lord has been highlighting the ten plagues brought upon the Egyptians and what each represent for those being delivered from the worldly ways… being sanctified, purified, and being made holy.

Know that “Egypt” is synonymous with “the world.” So, when I mention a section of the Maggid portion of the Passover Haggadah: “This is the bread of affliction that our fathers ate in the land of Egypt,” it is relevant today being the bread of affliction that our generations have ate in this fallen world. After this declaration over the broken matzah (unleavened bread), the question is asked “Why is this night different from all other nights?” Then, the story of the Exodus is recounted, which centers around the Lord God who took His people out of Egypt with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm, with great awe, with signs and with wonders.

During the Passover Seder, our family enjoys dipping our fingers in a glass of wine to touch our plate as each of the plagues are mentioned:

1.      Blood.

2.      Frogs.

3.      Lice.

4.      Wild Beasts.

5.      Pestilence.

6.      Boils.

7.      Hail.

8.      Locusts.

9.      Darkness.

10.   Plague of the Firstborn

Each of these plagues represented a popular Egyptian god of the time from which God delivered His people, which also speaks to us today about how the Lord will mighty deliver His people who cry out for freedom from their bondage.

1.      Water Turned to Blood (Hapi)

2.      Frogs Coming From the Nile (Heket)

3.      Lice From the Earth’s Dust (Geb)

4.      Swarms of Flies (Khepri)

5.      Death of Cattle and Livestock (Hathor)

6.      Ashes Turned to Boils and Sores (Isis)

7.      Hail in the Form of Fire (Nut)

8.      Locust Sent From the Sky (Seth)

9.      Three Days of Complete Darkness (Ra)

10.   Death of the Firstborn (Pharaoh)

1. FIRST PLAGUE: Hapi was the Egyptian god of the Nile from where the Egyptians got their life sustaining water. For seven days, the water throughout the land of Egypt remained unsuitable for all life. The fish died. The river stank, but especially the people could not drink the water from the Nile after Aaron’s miraculous rod touched the Nile River. Even the water in wooden buckets and pitchers of stone turned to blood (Exodus 7:14-25).

2. SECOND PLAGUE: Heket was the Egyptian goddess of fertility, water, and renewal. The second plague that stretched across Egypt were frogs that came up out of the river into every home – into their food, clothing, and every place possible. Frogs represent unclean spirits. Since Heket is said to be a goddess of fertility, this speaks of sexual immorality at every level. It’s adultery against the One True and Holy God (Exodus 8:1-15).

3. THIRD PLAGUE: Geb is the Egyptian god of the earth. At the Lord’s command to Moses, Aaron extended his rod to strike the dust of the earth. Then, the dust turned to lice that afflicted both people and beasts throughout the land of Ham. The very dust that God made mankind was used to plague rebellious people, as a reminder of their mortality and the sin that leads to death. Pharaoh’s magicians were unable to compete with this power of God and declared “this is the finger of God” (Exodus 8:19). This is the last plague where God required Aaron’s involvement. The next set of three plagues issued forth from the word of Moses (Exodus 8:16-19).

4. FOURTH PLAGUE: Khepri is the Egyptian god of creation, movement of the sun, and rebirth. This is where the plagues shift to another level, adding destruction to discomfort as a consequence for the people of the world’s own decisions. The fourth plague and onward marks where only the Egyptians suffered. The fourth tormenting plague were swarms of flies, which speaks of lies, for their false god of creation is associated with father of lies who is the lord of the flies (Exodus 8:20-30).

5. FIFTH PLAGUE: Hathor is the Egyptian goddess of love and protection. Moses continues to demand of Pharaoh: “Let My people go, that they may serve (worship) Me” (Exodus 9:1), which reveals this plague is a result of continued disobedience. God even gives advanced warning, making room for a time of repentance. “Tomorrow” the hand of the Lord will be fall on all the livestock of the Egyptians with a pestilence so severe that they will die. When anyone bases their understanding of love and protection on the illusions of a false demonic god, your whole life is affected, including food, transportation, economic, etc. (Exodus 9:1-7).

6. SIXTH PLAGUE: Isis is the goddess of marriage, fertility, motherhood, magic, and medicine. As the Egyptian mother goddess in the same vein of the idolatrous Babylonian Queen of Heaven, she is said to be the most popular and enduring god of Ancient Egypt who’s worshiped as the mother of all earthly kings. Moses was instructed by the Lord to throw the ashes from the furnace of affliction into the air where the wind blew it all over Egypt. When the ashes settled on the worldly kingdoms of man and beast, it formed boils and sores. Cleanliness was paramount in Egyptian society; therefore, this plague pronounced the kingdom of this world and its people with their demonic mother goddess “unclean” (Exodus 9:8-12).

7. SEVENTH PLAGUE: Nut is the Egyptian goddess of the sky. Again, Pharaoh is warned of the impending doom that will be faced if he doesn’t listen and obey the Most High God. The seventh plague was hail of unspeakable size that rained down from the sky and turned to fire when it hit the ground. There is now a division between the Egyptians (people of the world) who have converted to the Highest and Holy One by showing obedience through their willingness to escape to the protection of their “houses.” The temples of the Holy Spirit that YHVH has built – our bodies – can be a place of refuge from the world today wherever we go (Exodus 9:13-35).

8. EIGHTH PLAGUE: Seth is the Egyptian god of storms and disorder. The eighth plague of locusts from the sky was to be felt by Pharoah, so he would tell “your son and your son’s son the mighty things I have done in Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them, that you may know that I am the Lord” (Exodus 10:2). Any of the crops that were not destroyed by the burning hail were annihilated by locusts. Like Charlie Brown’s Pig Pen, storms and disorder follow the worldly crowd (Exodus 10:1-20).

9. NINTH PLAGUE: Ra is the Egyptian sun god. The ninth plague of palpable darkness for three days shows how inept all the false sun gods really are. The plague of three days of darkness was so intense that it could be physically felt. People could not see one another and did not rise, but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings. The most worshiped god in Egypt was the sun. The light of Ra is truly and ultimately darkness where darkness represents death, judgment, and hopelessness (Exodus 10:21-29).

10. TENTH PLAGUE: Pharaoh was the ultimate power of Egypt. He was worshipped by the Egyptians because he was considered to be the greatest Egyptian God of all. It was believed that he was actually the son of Ra himself, manifest in the flesh. The tenth and final plague came from Pharaoh’s own lips: “Get away from me! Take heed to yourself and see my face no more! For in the day you see my face you shall die!” (Exodus 10:28). Moses responded: “Thus says the Lord: ‘About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt; and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the animals. Then there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as was not like it before, nor shall be like it again” (Exodus 11:4-6). The tenth plague moves God’s people from passive obedience to active. They are required to strictly follow the Lord’s instruction of sacrificing a lamb and putting its blood on the doorposts of their homes, which is a picture of accepting the blood of Yeshua shed on the Cross in your heart for your personal salvation and believing that the Heavenly Father rose Him from the dead. See Romans 10:9-10. (Exodus 11:1-10).

Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world within and without!

Give em heaven!!!
