Has anyone else noticed the uptick in mocking?
I find it interesting that Jude singles out “mockers” in the last days. He equates mockers with those who follow after their own lusts, cause divisions, worldly-minded and devoid of the Spirit (Jude 1:18-19).
I can’t stand mocking. We should not be surprised that the enemies of our soul would manipulate everyone’s carnal nature by using tactics, such as ridicule or scorn to show contempt and superiority. Notice the pride element. My Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary (10 Edition) defines the verb “mock” as to treat with contempt [disdain, despising] or ridicule : DERIDE : to disappoint the hopes of : to mimic in sport or derision : DEFY : CHALLENGE : JEER : SCOOF. “Mockery” is a noun that’s insulting or contemptuous action or speech as well as making someone a subject of laughter, derision, or sport. A mockery is also a counterfeit appearance or an imitation, like the counterfeit Bride of Christ who is also known as the Bride of Satan, or the Babylonian Queen of Heaven and her hundreds of iterations and variations.
Mocking is a very effective way to control people by shaming them into compliance. For instance, there are believers in Christ who will not even consider that Christmas has a demonic root due to wanting to avoid being called a miserly Scrooge or Grinch. The demonic realm uses mocking to keep people in line. After all we don’t want people to think of us that way. This is one of the crucial crucifixion tests for believers.
If we follow in the golden footsteps of Messiah Yeshua, we will see mocking precedes the crucifixion of the flesh. Yeshua revealed this pattern to His closest companions. He told them that He would be mocked just prior to being crucified (Matt. 20:19; Mark 10:34; Luke 18:32): “As Jesus was about to go up to Jerusalem, He took the twelve disciples aside by themselves, and on the road He said to them, ‘Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn Him to death, and they will hand Him over to the Gentiles to mock and flog and crucify, and on the third day He will be raised up’” (Matthew 20:17-19 NAS20).
Therefore, brethren, count it all joy when you face the various trials of mocking. The True Bride of Christ will walk hand-in-hand with her Beloved – the Crucified One. We will endure ridicule, scorn, insults, contempt, and being made fun of. We will endure this test of our faith whether we will bow to peer and societal pressure… whether we will seek to fit in and gain man’s approval or not. This mocking test of our faith produces strength of character, patience, endurance, steadfastness, constancy, and unswervable hope. If we let patience have its perfect work in us, then we will eventually come to the place of becoming an exact representation of Yeshua in our own unique way where we are complete and lacking nothing (James 1:2-4). Notice how verse 12 of James chapter 1 tells us: “Blessed is the person who endures; for when they are approved by God Himself, they will receive the crown of life.”
What is the crown of life? One way to describe it is the end of your faith – the salvation of your souls: “6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, 8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls” (1 Peter 1:6-9 NKJV).
