Right after the Lord describes Noah as a just man and perfect in his generations, we are told Noah walked with God (Genesis 6:9). Like Enoch who also walked with God, Noah pleased Him. The term “perfect” in “perfect in his generations” is the Hebrew word tāmîm, which carries the meaning without blemish, undefiled, perfect (as God created), upright, whole, sound, healthful, unimpaired, innocent, having integrity, entire, sincere, complete, full, and entirely in accordance with truth.
Then right after Noah is held up as a standard, we are told “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth” (Genesis 6:11-12 NKJV).
I am simply amazed at how our day is so much like Genesis 6. The Hebrew word for “corrupt” is šāḥaṯ, which is an action word – a verb – that means to destroy, to corrupt, to mar, to mutilate, to pervert, go to ruin, destroyer, corrupters, waster, and spoilers. “Corrupt” is mentioned three times in Genesis 6:11-12, which means that we can add “completely” to all the above terms. For example: to completely destroy, to completely corrupt, to completely pervert, et cetera, et cetera, etcetera.
Notice that in Genesis 6, man’s DNA was being perverted: “The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of mankind, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of mankind was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of their hearts was only evil continually. So the Lord was sorry that He had made mankind on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart” (Genesis 6:4-6 NASB).
For Noah to be “perfect in his generations,” he had to have a firm stance and believe that God would preserve the one flesh: “Do you not know that your bodies are parts of Christ? Shall I then take away the parts of Christ and make them parts of a prostitute? Far from it! Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, ‘The two shall become one flesh.’ But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Flee sexual immorality. Every other sin that a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought for a price: therefore glorify God in your body” (1 Corinthians 6:15-19 NASB).
Noah knew that the only way that the sons of Adam had dominion over the earth was as long as they remained made in God’s own image. Their DNA had to be kept undefiled. Their DNA had to be kept perfect, as God created it. And boy, it must have been a battle to protect his DNA and the DNA of his family! Pretty much like today. Can you image how much Noah went through? The mockery alone must have been crushing, yet Noah remained steadfast, obedient, righteous, and blameless in the Lord. Therefore, when all his contemporaries were doomed to perish by divine judgment, Noah “found grace in the eyes of the Lord” (Genesis 6:8).
Notice in the definition of the Hebrew word for “corrupt” – šāḥaṯ – there is a hint of what brings the divine judgment – the Destroyer. We are once again in a time where there will be a clear-cut distinction between those who walk with God, who are perfect in their generations, and who are protected by the Ark of His Presence versus those who has allowed their flesh to be corrupted and who are violent. Remember “except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened” (Matthew 24:22).
Recently, the Lord shared with me that there is hope for people who have remorse over changing their DNA. Repentance is key. Confess and repent; and then, cut off all things that are not of God that are “in” you. Choose to be in complete agreement with Messiah Yeshua by totally being “in Christ” to remove all other impairments within you and your DNA. Please allow me to re-iterate that last point. Ask the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God – Messiah Yeshua – to cut off anything in you that is not “in Christ.” This is a wise thing that we all should do persistently.
In this digital age, there are so many connections that we are unaware of that the enemy of our souls capitalizes on for nefarious purposes. The only way to be without blemish, undefiled, perfect (as God created), upright, whole, sound, healthful, unimpaired, innocent, having integrity, entire, sincere, complete, full, and entirely in accordance with truth is to be “in Christ.” With the extra bonus of cleaning up toxins from any source.
Let’s give Him all the praise, glory, and honor due His Name!
“God has chosen, the things that are not, so He may nullify the things that are, so that no human may boast before God. But it is due to Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written: ‘Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord’” (1 Corinthians 1:28-31 NASB).
