Q: How do you manage to balance the inner internal personal deep relationship with God with the outward ministry to others? Jesus told us to go out to others (heal the sick, raise the dead, preach the Gospel). Sometimes I feel so self centered trying to get closer to Him that I question "shouldn't I be more focused on others?". But then again the closest and intimate I am with God the better I can actually minister to others. How do you deal with that dichotomy?

A: For me, it's about the Hebraic concept of The Shema - hearing, understanding, and doing. Through my inner deepening relationship, His living waters flow. Therefore, I incline my ear to hear Him and His heart, because it is His heart for us to minister to others too, even more so than any of our desires. Once I hear, I like to have understanding before I am obedient; but I have given Him permission to do anything He'd like to do with me, even without my permission. Sooooo... I have an Ezekiel-like prophetic walk where many times I am doing things before I "know" what HE is doing through me. I would suggest keeping it simple. Trust and obey; and know that we go through cycles of focusing on deepening our relationship and focusing on ministering to others with our main focus (thing) always being the main thing -- focusing on the Author and Perfecter of our faith -- Messiah Yeshua.
