“So that my soul might sing to You” (Psalms 30:13). The Hebrew word for soul literally means glory. A person’s soul is called glory because its ultimate function is to give glory to God.

What’s super-duper interesting is that the Hebrew word for soul can also literally means honor. The soul is called a person’s honor because it is a supreme privilege, honor and joy that a human has within a resting place for the glory of God.

“A Psalm of David. Unto Thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul” (Psalms 25:1 KJV).

“And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation” (Psalms 35:9 KJV).

“These things I remember and I pour our my soul within me. For I used to go along with the throng and lead them in procession to the House of God. with the voice of joy and thanksgiving, a multitude keeping [a Biblical] festival. Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him for the help of His Presence. O my God, my soul is in despair within me; therefore I remember You from the land of the Jordan and the peaks of Hermon, from Mount Mizar. Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls; all Your breakers and Your waves have rolled over me. The LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime; and His song will be with me in the night, a prayer to the God of my life” (Psalms 42:4-8 NASB).

May our superb souls give God the glory and honor that is due His Name!

Give em heaven!!!
